Paint Carpet

I have a bleach stain on my carpet

how many cans to color an average size vehicle carpet?

Best Answer: It depends on if your changing the color, or rejuvenating your carpet the same color. I've found the dye to go pretty far when I used it. Will you need 2 coats or four coats? It can also be used again to freshen up your carpet in the future or touch up an area that needs it. For a light coat (2 coats) I would say 3 or 4 cans and you might have a little left over to touch up places that need a little more. The dye has to get down into the carpet to cover up the color differences. I like this product. I have 55 year old black carpet on my doors, firewall and kick panels. The brown backing color could be seen through the carpet fibers. I did 4 coats, each from different angel and touched up with a 5th. I redid my door panels 6 months later to freshen them up and I still have better than 1/2 the can. This dye also works on plastic. If your changing the color I would buy at least 6 maybe 7 cans. I was surprised at how nice it comes out for a lot less than purchasing carpet. Don't forget to mask areas you don't want dyed and use a good vacuum to get out the dirt. Anything that will keep the dye from sticking must be cleaned. It's all about the prep.

Does this have an odor like spray paint?

Best Answer: I will say no, I just used some on Jetta recently (a week ago) and was in the car today removing window tint and it had no distinct odor ,I do like this product over others that I have tried.
I have a small car lot and avoid “smells” as much as possible. I also have started using the black spray on plastic under the hood for touch ups, Works great.

can i change the color of plastic with this product?

Best Answer: I’m not quite sure about plastic but I had some ugly looking carpet in my 1949 Cadillac and I use this product it was kind of a faded green and it covered it up good if you’re going to have heavy traffic on it a lot you’ll have to keep on

If I were to dye a piece of vinyl in my car with this, besides sanding, is there a prep spray I will need?

Best Answer: I never sanded the vinyl I dyed. If your changing the color or resonating a previously dyed vinyl this product covers very well. I have a black dyed interior over light green. I masked off an area for treatment. When I pulled the tape off the original dye job some of it came off. I just cleaned the area and resprayed it. It looks better than before. Spray lightly with a few coats. This product sticks very well.

Hi would this product be a good lasting way to change the colour of grubby looking tan carpet to black?

Best Answer: Take your time. Clean the carpet well. Remove oil spot and alike. It will stick to the dirt and fall off with the dirt if it's not clean. Half my door cards are carpet. I did a nice job the first time but I did it again about a month later and it looks very good 2 years later.

How does this stand up to UV rays?

Best Answer: I never had a problem with it holding up, it did a great job, I used it on a area that had a bleach spill on the floor of my truck.

Does it make the carpet stiff?

Best Answer: Yes this WILL leave the carpet stiff so it should only be used as a last resort for stains that you cannot remove.

The dye did a great job on making the original carpet all the same black plus it covered several small bare spots and made them almost invisible.

Easy to use and does a fantastic job on carpet.
I wasn't sure how carpet dye in a spray can would work. I used it on my door panels on a 63 Studebaker Hawk. The carpet had faded and some areas were a brown color. The original color was black. I used masking tape and paper around the area I wanted to dye. The carpet and the vynal edging look brand new. It dried very fast. I used long even spray strokes. Saved me a lot of money instead of buying new door panels.

Carpet Dye
The product was applied to a black auto carpet significantly stained by liquid pool chlorine. After neutralizing the stain with bleach neutralizer and letting it thoroughly dry, the carpet dye was applied as directed and the finished product turned out beautiful. You literally cannot tell it from the original adjacent unaffected carpet areas. The product exceeded my expectations.

Not so great
After several different color variations of the tan I couldn't get a suitable color match the spray nozzle sprays very clumpy/ uneven it might work better on carpet but we were going on plastic trim SEM makes a far superior product I'm glad I tested it on a piece of trim we werent using because I would not want the look of this product on any of mine or my customers vehicles
