Rotary polishers are great for heavy paint correction. They can also be used for polishing but aren’t as efficient as other types of polishers. Rotary polishers should NOT be used for applying wax/sealant or for sanding.
-
Forced rotation polishers oscillate AND rotate at the same time in a fixed pattern, while rotary polishers only rotate and spin in a circular motion. Rotary polishers will correct quicker and are capable of slightly heavier correction, but will have a higher risk of paint damage, longer learning curve, create more heat, and won’t leave as nice of a finish due to their movement.
-
Rotary polishers are the most aggressive polishers for paint correction. If this is put in the hands of someone who does not know how to operate the machine properly there is potential for damage to occur. These aren’t as scary as most people might think (if they have heard horror stories about people burning paint) but they have a slightly longer learning curve for someone who is new to polishing.
