paint/rust protection

ok guys I'm needing your input....

I'm now a proud owner of a brand spanking new pick up truck, the dealer says to improve my odds against corrosion I should have an electrical box installed in it that adds a small micro electric pulse/ ion charge to the vehicle rendering the need for annual undercoating obselete, now the winters in Ontario Cda can be pretty brutal on vehicles, especially with the liquid solution that's put on the roads..

my question is this .. does this technology actually work, is it proven or is it the dealer trying to get some more of my cash... should I stay with regular non-drip undercoating, I'm hearing alot of conflicting stories about these "magic boxes" any feed back would be appreciated.

       Have a shiny day!

Jim,

Most vehicles today have many safeguards to help prevent rusting. I would have the vehicle undercoated if it has not yet been done with a good perifin based product-not asphault based. The undercoating will act as a sound deadner. I would also have my paint protected with a good polymer based sealant. Detail King offers a fabulous paint sealant tha will help protect the paint from the elements called STS3000. I really do not think you need to spend any additional money on rust proofing products. Ten-15 years ago I would say yes, not today though. Hope this helps.
